Local Laws

Under the Local Government Act, Quilpie Council has the authority to create and enforce local laws and council policies.

Local laws and council policies cover areas such as:

  • Signage
  • Food hygiene
  • Footpath dining
  • Building
  • Keeping pets
  • Permits and licences

Making of Subordinate Local Law

  1. Quilpie Shire Council (the “Council”) has, by resolution dated the 16th day of August 2018 made Amending Subordinate Local Law (Animal Management) 2018.

Subordinate Local Law amended

  1. The subordinate local law referred to in paragraph 1 amends Subordinate Local Law No. 2 (Animal Management) 2012.

Authorising Local Law

  1. The authorising local law for the subordinate local law referred to in paragraph 1 is Local Law No. 2 (Animal Management) 2012.

Purpose and general effect

  1. The purpose and general effect of the subordinate local law referred to in paragraph 1 is to amend the number of sheep that can be kept on a property in a designated town area from one (1) sheep to two (2) sheep.

Consolidated version of Subordinate Local Law

  1. Council has, by resolution dated the 16th day of August 2018, adopted a consolidated version of Subordinate Local Law No. 2 (Animal Management) 2012.

Inspection

  1. Copies of the subordinate local law identified in paragraph 1 and the consolidated version of the subordinate local law identified in paragraph 5 may be Inspected and purchased at Council’s Customer Service Centre or viewed on the website of the Department of Local Government.
