Welcome to Quilpie Shire Council, where you’ll find real opportunities, real community and the life you want to live
Our townships are founded on the lands of the Boonthamurra, Bidjara, Kullilli, Mardigan and Wongkumarra peoples. From agriculture and tourism to opals and dinosaur bones, we’re always evolving with the needs of our people, and we’re just getting started!
Want to work for a council with big ideas, a council that punches well above its weight? Then you belong with us.
Want to work with a down- to- earth team that gives you a hand up when you need it, where you’re respected for what you bring, and your wellbeing truly matters? Then you belong with us.
Want to take the next step in your career, gain new skills and experiences, and work with leaders who’ll encourage you to succeed? Then you belong with us.
We guarantee Quilpie is different from what you might expect. Below, we’ve busted a few of the most common myths:
Quilpie is home to a friendly and welcoming community. In fact, our people tell us they’ve spent more time socialising in Quilpie in a few months than they have in years elsewhere. We’re very town- proud and keen to help you settle in. And if you care about community, you’ll find we offer real country hospitality here - neighbours who invite you over for a home- cooked meal, workmates who host barbecue Fridays, and a barista who remembers your coffee order every day. It’s true - you’ll need to make more of your own fun here, but you’ll find your place in a 700-strong welcoming community.
Some folks even retire to Quilpie for this reason. You can usually see a GP here on the same day you need an appointment. And for more serious situations, the Royal Flying Doctor Service provides outstanding emergency medical care. We also have specialists from across the health industry fly in regularly.
At Quilpie Shire Council, we don’t believe in the status quo - we believe in excellence and delivering better results for our region. We’re recognised in the region for our forward- thinking approach and the energy and smarts we bring to new projects. Come join us and see for yourself!
