Quilpie is about a 10- hour drive west of Brisbane along the sealed Warrego Highway. If flying is your plan, it’s 3.5 hours with Rex Airlines. We see it as a great chance to absorb a podcast (or two!). You’ll find getting to and from Quilpie Airport is super easy. It’s literally a five- minute drive from our offices. And you certainly won’t face a 40- minute wait to check through security.

Yep, the mercury can hit 45 degrees in summer (you’ll find most people indoors with the aircon on for the hottest parts of the day).
Summers can also bring sandflies and the odd dust storm. On the flip side, our winters are mild and sunny, and spring brings beautiful blooms of wildflowers across the country. We also experience an incredible number of clear sky days throughout the year.
This means almost every night, you can soak up the grandeur of the Milky Way suspended over your backyard. The sunrises and sunsets are absolutely beautiful, too!
