GIVIT – Donations
GIVIT has partnered with the Queensland Government to manage donations of essential goods and services for people impacted by severe floods in parts of Western Queensland.
At this early stage of recovery, the easiest, most efficient and most impactful way to help is to donate money, and every dollar makes a difference. Donate money to provide essential goods & services here: givit.org.au/western-queensland-floods
If you have items to donate, you can offer them via givit.org.au/donate-items. If your items are needed by organisations working in flood recovery, as well as GIVIT’s other partner charities, we’ll connect you with them.

Rural Aid is Australia’s most trusted rural charity. Established in 2015, Rural Aid’s vision is to safeguard farming and rural communities before, during and after natural disasters. We stand ready to support farmers when disaster strikes and offer relevant help needed.
Assistance offered to primary producers:
• Financial assistance in disasters
• Fodder for livestock, including for our littlest livestock (bees).
• Domestic water supplied via local, licensed water carters.

Disaster assistance has been activated for western Queensland in response to flooding.

🤝 Disaster loans up to $250,000 are available for primary producers, small businesses and not-for-profits in nine LGAs via qrida.qld.gov.au.
👩‍🌾 Freight subsidies up to $5,000 are available for eligible primary producers via daf.qld.gov.au.

 

Road Access to Eromanga

Access to Eromanga is now open with the following restrictions in place:

Activated locations: Barcoo LGA (all areas), Bulloo LGA (all areas), Quilpie LGA (all areas), Winton LGA (all areas) 
If you are suffering hardship or require emotional support as a result of the Western Qld Rainfall and Flooding March 2025 event, help is available. You may be eligible for financial or other assistance to help you get back on your feet.
People are encouraged to apply for financial assistance grants online at www.qld.gov.au/DisasterHelp or by calling the Community
Recovery Hotline on 1800 173 349.
When completing grant applications online, please ensure your personal details are entered exactly as they appear on your driver’s licence (e.g. spelling of your name) and Medicare card. If you have dependents, list them in order as stated on your card.
State and Commonwealth Grants
Assistance provided through the jointly-funded Commonwealth-State
Disaster Recovery Funding Arrangements (DRFA).
Emergency Hardship Assistance^
$180 per person (up to $900 for a family of five or more)for people who are unable to meet their immediate essential needs for temporary accommodation, food, essential clothing and medication. It can take up to five days for payments to reach your bank account.
Essential Services Hardship Assistance^
$150 per person (up to $750 for a family of five or more) for people who have experienced the loss of one or more essential services for more than five days. This grant will only be made
active after five days without services.
Essential Household Contents Grant *^
One-off payment for households who are uninsured or unable to claim insurance as a contribution towards replacing or repairing essential household contents. Up to $1,765 for single adults and up to $5,300 for couples/families.
Essential Services Safety & Reconnection Scheme *^
To help owner/occupied households reconnect essential services that were damaged by a disaster. Up to $200 towards a safety inspection for each essential service needing reconnection (electricity, gas, water and sewerage or septic system) and up to $4,200 towards repair work.
Structural Assistance Grant *^
One-off payment towards the cost of repairs to uninsured, owner occupied homes to ensure the home is habitable, secure and safe. Up to $80,000.

*Income Test
Your gross (before tax) weekly income must be less than or equal to:
Individual adult: $1,179 ($61,322 per year)
couple: $1,630 ($84,782 per year)
sole parent, one child: $1,632 ($84,842 per year)
couple, one child: $2,021 ($105,125 per year).
For each additional child, add $391 per week. For each dependent adult, add $451
per week.

The Adavale Sport & Recreation Centre is now open and operational as a Refuge Centre.

If your home is not a safe place or you will be at risk of isolation, please move to the Adavale Sport & Recreation Centre as soon as possible. Please ensure you only bring your essential items, such as food, water, spare clothes, bedding and any important documents or medication required for the duration of your stay.

Please also note that NO PETS are allowed at this Refuge Centre.

UHF Channel 40

 

Due to recent heavy rainfall and unfavourable weather conditions, today’s Regional Express (REX) flight was unable to land at Quilpie Airport.

Passenger and crew safety remains the top priority, and such decisions are made by airline operators based on real-time assessments.

We wish to advise that scheduled flights for Thursday and Friday are expected to proceed as planned, subject to ongoing weather monitoring by REX on the day.

Any updates will be communicated promptly.

The Council is aware that many rural properties within the Shire are currently experiencing varying degrees of flooding, and we are contacting as many landholders as possible to gauge your status and any specific needs you may have.

If you require assistance, including evacuation, food or medical supplies, please contact the Council Administration Office at 4656 0500.

 

The Eromanga State School is now open and operational as a Refuge Centre.
