Rural Solutions Queensland Inc. (RSQ) is very pleased to announce that the Small Business Financial Counselling Service in Southern Queensland has recently received additional funding from both the Commonwealth and Queensland Government.  Through this additional funding our small business counsellors will assist small businesses impacted by drought and manage the impact of the COVID 19 Virus.

RSQ is a not for profit organisation, established in 1998 and we have been providing Rural Financial Counselling Services to farmers and small rural businesses under a joint federal and state government program since 1998.

We now have a team of  small business financial counsellors employed to help small business owners during this difficult time. These people bring a wealth of professional and small business skills to the roles and are able to provide practical and positive assistance to business owners as they navigate this very difficult period.

The service is free, independent and confidential.  We can assist any small to medium sized businesses (up to 200 employees) requiring assistance due to many climatic and financial factors and more recently the COVID 19 which is impacting very high numbers of small businesses located in our region.  Our region covers Rockhampton in the north, through to the western and southern borders of the state.

The Service offers a full range of free financial counselling services, all aimed at providing small business owners with the assistance they need to survive the current difficulties and emerge better placed to face the future.

If any small business in your area requires assistance we can help with the following challenges:

If you would like further information about this initiative please call Ms. Fiona Hills on 0417 068 191 or myself (details below) We would be very pleased to provide you with details about the service, or please visit our website: https://www.rfcssq.org.au/

Small Business Counsellors can be contacted on 1300 732 777

Monday to Friday 8.30 am to 5.00pm or email at smallbusiness@rfcssq.org.au.

With all dawn services cancelled for the public in 2020, national RSLs are inviting Australians everywhere to commemorate our veterans this ANZAC Day by standing in your living room, front yard, or driveway at 6:00am to Light Up the Dawn. Simply join your neighbours by holding a candle in place, in lieu of attending your regular service.

If you plan on participating, please collect a free LED battery operated taper candle and a small poppy from Kirsty at the Quilpie Shire Council Office.

The RSL have provided an audio file for the Light up the Dawn Service. This RSLQ audio file will recite the Ode, bugle playing of the Last Post, a minutes silence followed by the Rouse and finally the National Anthem. This will be broadcast to the Quilpie community through a sound system which will be located near St Finbarr’s School.

We hope you can join us in “Lighting Up The Dawn” in Quilpie.

To pledge your participation, please visit: https://rslqld.org/Whats-On/ANZAC-Day

TWILIGHT SERVICE

With our annual Twilight Service at the Quilpie Cemetery being cancelled due to COVID-19, Quilpie Shire Council believes it is important to continue honouring those who served in the Military Forces and lay at rest at or Cemetery.

Quilpie Shire Council staff members will be placing a LED battery operated candle, a small Australian Flag and a poppy on each of the graves and memorials of those who served.

We ask community members to consider going for a drive to the Cemetery on Friday night, sitting for a few moments in your car observing the flickering candles and remembering and honouring our brave men and women.

In line with dramatic changes in demand for flights due to the effects of the current pandemic, TMR and Rex are implementing a reduced schedule in QLD across the regulated network until further notice.
