Due to recent heavy rainfall and unfavourable weather conditions, today’s Regional Express (REX) flight was unable to land at Quilpie Airport.
Passenger and crew safety remains the top priority, and such decisions are made by airline operators based on real-time assessments.
We wish to advise that scheduled flights for Thursday and Friday are expected to proceed as planned, subject to ongoing weather monitoring by REX on the day.
Any updates will be communicated promptly.
The Council is aware that many rural properties within the Shire are currently experiencing varying degrees of flooding, and we are contacting as many landholders as possible to gauge your status and any specific needs you may have.

The Bureau of Meteorology (BOM) have upgraded the Bulloo River Flood Warning from Moderate to Major, Monday 24 March 2025.
Moderate to heavy local rainfall has been observed along the Bulloo River since Sunday night. This rainfall has resulted in river and creek level rises across the upper parts of the Bulloo River, where major flooding is likely at Quilpie from Monday afternoon.
The Bulloo River at Quilpie is currently at 4.72 metres and rising, above the moderate flooding (4.00 m). The Bulloo River at Quilpie is expected to reach and potentially exceed major flood level (5.00 m) from Monday afternoon. Further rises are likely with forecast rainfall. A peak flood height is still not known and will be monitored.

Council advises that rate notices for the period 1 January 2023 to 30 June
2023 were issued to ratepayers on 28 February 2023.
Rates are due 5.00pm Thursday 30 March 2023.
To ensure you don’t miss the discount, please consider BPay and EFT
payment clearance timeframes. Rates notices were posted to ratepayers
at their last known address. It is the responsibility of the property owner
to advise Council of any change of address. Ratepayers who do not receive
a rate notice are encouraged to contact Council to receive a copy.
Please note that rates notices can now be emailed. If you would like to
receive your rates notice via email you can register for e-Rates at
https://quilpie.qld.gov.au/register-for-erates/ .
If you are experiencing financial difficulty and cannot pay the rates in full
by the due date, you can apply to Council to enter into a payment
arrangement to pay rates in smaller, regular payments.
