Council’s Shipping Container Program has now been extended until 01 December 2025. Until this date, Council will waiver the fees associated with the lodgement of building applications for new and existing shipping containers as well as providing associated footing plans. All applications and footing plans for shipping containers after this timeframe will incur fees.
Building approval is required in the following Quilpie Shire zones:
Adavale: Township Zone
Eromanga: Township Zone
Toompine: Township Zone
Cheepie: Township Zone
Quilpie: Township Zone

To submit a complete application the following documents and information is required:
- Building Application – DA Form2
- Quilpie Shire – Shipping Container Footing Plans
- Dimensional site plan – this can be neatly hand drawn
- Please only complete and submit a Siting Variation Form if – the minimum road boundary setback (fence line/ property boundary) is less than 6m or the side and rear boundary clearance is less than 1.5m
Once you have all the documents required and completed the DA Form 2, please either send to admin@quilpie.qld.gov.au or drop in to Council Administration. It will then be submitted to the certifier for assessment.
