An exciting opportunity has become available within Council for an experienced Building Tradesperson/Carpenter to join our team. This fulltime position is responsible for undertaking construction, maintenance, repairs and inspection of Council owned buildings and facilities. Reporting to Council’s Structures and Concrete Supervisor, the role is also responsible for managing Council’s electrical goods test and tag program, assisting with the inspection and programming of Council’s annual buildings maintenance program in addition to assisting with the preparation of building specifications and providing estimates for building projects.
The successful applicant must be able to work unsupervised and be able to demonstrate the ability to take initiative. The successful applicant may be required to camp out or assist with other duties within the Structures and Concrete crew from time to time. The successful applicant will be expected to exhibit and promote Council’s corporate values, and this will be considered as part of the selection process.
Mandatory Requirements
- Possession of a Building Trade certificate or similar;
- Current General Construction Induction Card;
- Current Qld ‘C’ Class Drivers Licence; and
- Sound communication skills.
Desirable Requirements
- Knowledge of relevant legislation and government policies relating to asbestos management; and
- Test and Tag licence (or be willing to obtain).
